There is a colour that needs no explanation. The colour of warm milk, of porridge, of a linen tablecloth faded by the sun, of a fresh loaf broken in half. It argues with no one and interrupts nothing. It simply makes the table a calmer place. This is the colour MÜGE began with - which is why Nordic Beige Brown is not just one of our collections, but the heart of the brand, its first word.

The inspiration came from the north. The Scandinavian idea of cosiness is not about expensive things, but about honest ones. Natural materials, soft light, quiet tones, and a form with nothing superfluous in it. We chose a matte cream-oatmeal glaze, warm as sand, and left the lower rim of each piece unglazed. Where most makers hide the craft, ours is on show: raw terracotta clay in a warm brick tone, alive and slightly rough to the touch. This is the collection's signature - and the reason for the word Brown in its name. Exposed clay reads instantly: this is what honest material looks like, what handwork looks like, what the earth it all comes from looks like.
